Board
The Montessori School of Raleigh is governed by an unpaid Board of Trustees (10–25 members). Their mission is to preserve and protect the long-term health and wellbeing of the institution. The sole employee of the Board of Trustees is the Head of School, who is engaged to oversee the day-to-day operation of the School, to be its educational leader, and to carry out institutional and instructional Board policy.
To insure the long-term health of the institution, the Board has institutionalized both long-range and strategic planning. A School Improvement Plan (SIP) developed by the extended community sets the annual agenda for the Board. It also determines the annual goals and objectives for the Head of School. The achievement of these goals and objectives forms the basis for her annual performance review. The Board has also let the SIP set financial priorities, recognizing that the annual budget is the Board’s annual statement of priorities.
