Volunteering

At MSR, we believe that strong parental involvement is crucial to the academic and social success of our children and is vital to the soundness of the institution as a whole.  As a community, we encourage parents to get involved in their child’s education and to help us build a strong school/home partnership.

Our parent association, MPSA (Montessori Parent Staff Association) provides the framework through which parent volunteer efforts are organized and coordinated.  Volunteers are always needed and greatly appreciated for both school-wide events and directly in the classroom.

The following MPSA events provide school-wide volunteer opportunities throughout the year:
Fall Festival
Fall and Spring Plant Sales
Fall and Spring Garden Days
Book Fair
Casino Night Gala and Auction
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Spring Art Festival

Classroom Room Parents coordinate volunteers to work directly in the classroom with teachers and students.  Volunteers lead projects with the students, help produce play performances, make and laminate materials, tend classroom gardens, plan class picnics and socials, read to and listen to children read, chaperone field trips, bake goodies and organize a variety of other classroom projects.

Through parent participation in school activities parent gain the knowledge and skills that enable them to help their children to learn at home.  With many busy parents who have little or no time to spare, we strive to create opportunities to help parents get involved in whatever way they are able.

We empower children to discover who they are and how they can use their strengths to be successful in society and recognize their challenges and know where to find the resources to help them resolve and overcome their challenges. —Upper Elementary Director
