Beginning Band
Playing in a large ensemble is an enriching experience as we explore fundamentals of our instruments, read notation, improvise, compose and develop the art of musical performance. Students signing up for Beginning Band will also have a Studio session according to the following instruments and times.

Intermediate Band

Ukulele
The ukulele is a fun, easy, and highly portable instrument to play. This course aims to quickly move students toward playing songs they know and love, while building skills along the way. Students will first learn the basics of how to hold, tune, and strum the ukulele. Then they will learn how to make cords and read tablature. This is also a great bridge instrument for students who want to eventually learn guitar. Ukuleles will be provided for the students to practice on for the duration of the Studio.

Soccer Shots
We are excited to announce that we are partnering with a soccer program called Soccer Shots. This is the premier soccer program that introduces the sport of soccer in a planned,fun,developmentally appropriate way. For more information visit their website soccershots.org/rdu.

Amazing Athletes
Come join Caroline Jerger from Amazing Athlete’s program as we launch their
exciting new program. The Warrior program is designed to keep older children active and engaged through a game based sports program that builds athletic skill and teaches teamwork.

Golf
TGA provides ALL equipment so students need to bring nothing but a smile to each practice. There will be a student to instructor ratio of 8-1. Students will learn all aspects of golf, from swing to etiquette a life values while advancing through a 5 level program. First time students will receive a TGA hat and a TGA ball, Practice in a fun,safe, and nurturing environment that builds confidence, focus,motor skills and more.

Tennis

Chess
Sign up for the competitive chess team! Students will learn chess fundamentals and strategies that enhance learning skills and cognitive thinking. We will build confidence and compete against other local schools. Novice players and experienced players are encouraged to sign up as we will have two class sections. Sign up early! Space is limited.

Basket Making
This course will include weaving with flat and round weave, some natural materials and dyed reeds. Students will learn different techniques including twining,stop/start and lashing. Some baskets will have wooden bases and some will have handles.

Outdoor Adventures Club
Come along on a dynamic experience that challenges and inspires the adventurer in you. Whether you are new to the wonders of backcountry
adventure or a seasoned adventurer ready to share what you know come join Me. D for this exciting studio. Greg is an experienced outdoorsman and a trained wilderness first-responder who shares a passion for connecting young people to the Natural world. During the 6-week Outdoor Adventure Studio students will learn backcountry skills,explore North Carolina’s wild places and plan a multi-day trek in our own great state of North Carolina. The length and details of the trek will be determined by the experience level and the abilities of the group. Each member of the team will learn many skills including survival skills,fire starting, primitive and modern shelter construction. As well as first aid, orienting, and backcountry cooking,`

Piano General
The piano is a very visual instrument, which helps introduce music theory and early musical concepts. In this Beginning Piano class, students will begin to read music for two hands, develop early rhythm skills, learn to play one-octave scales and arpeggios and develop good hand and body posture.

Violin General
The violin is a pitch based instrument which lends itself well to playing in groups of varying different sizes. In this Beginning Violin class, students will begin to read music, learn how to hold the violin and bow and how to care for the instrument, learn basic fingering positions, develop early pitch recognition, learn to play one-octave scales and arpeggios and develop early rhythm skills.

Power Brain Education
Maximize your child’s brain potential through Power Brain Education. The PBE program consists of physical, emotional, and cognitive exercises designed to improve focus, creativity, memory, confidence, stress management, and physical health. Through fun mind-body activities and movement exercises, children gain self-esteem, emotional control, and physical wellness. Activities include stretching, memory/focus games, meditation, creative movement, and drawing.

Introduction To STEM by Playwell
Ratchet up your imagination with tens of thousands of LEGO®! Build engineer-designed projects such as Motorcycles, Castles, Airplanes, and Monorails. Then use special pieces to create your own unique design! New and returning students can explore the endless creative possibilities of the LEGO® building system with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.
