Camps are for all Elementary, Middle and Upper School children unless stated otherwise. That includes Rising 1st years through Upper School (12th grade).

Week 1: June 12-16

Exploring Aerospace Engineering (9am – 1pm)(Rising 2nd – 4th grade)
Discover firsthand the exciting world of aerospace engineering! In this camp we’ll design parachutes, launch bottle rockets, and learn about Newton and his laws of motion. We’ll explore the forces of lift, weight, thrust, and drag. We’ll learn how airplanes work and design our very own gliders. Plus, you’ll get to keep some of your projects so the fun continues at home. If you like activities that zoom and fly, this class is for you! Rising 2nd through 4th only!

Music Exploration (9am – 1pm)
Students will experience a variety of musical activities working in large groups and individually. We will explore percussion instruments, singing, composition, songwriting and more! This camp is for students to approach music as a whole and explore an area or skill in which they have a strong interest. This camp will be partially student led, however, will also have large group sessions for students to collaborate with all participants.

Roam Around Raleigh (9am – 1pm)
Get on the bus and discover the awesome things that happen in the summertime in Raleigh. A week of fun and exploration awaits you in this new camp.

Lower Elementary Theater (1pm – 4pm)(Lower Elementary students ONLY)
Join us for fairy tales, folktales, and fun in the Theatre Suite! There will be dress up, art, and face painting! You will experience the full production of a play and perform on the last day of camp.

Exploring Chemistry (1pm – 4pm)(Rising 2nd – 4th grade)
Discover firsthand the exciting world of chemistry and chemical engineering! In this class we’ll experiment with acids and bases and learn how to make a pH indicator out of simple household ingredients. We’ll make invisible ink, create bubbles, and explore the amazing properties of polymers. We’ll learn how to identify chemicals and use the power of science to investigate a crime scene and find the culprit. You’ll even get to keep some of your projects so the fun continues at home. If you like things that fizz and mixing up colorful concoctions, this class is for you! Rising 2nd through 4th only!

Week 2: June 19-23

TGA Tennis camp (9am – 1pm)
Each day will include station-based instruction on different types of shots, fundamental drills, play-based formats, rules & etiquette, as well as games, prizes and lots of fun! Students do not need to have their own racquet. TGA provides all equipment, including kids-sized racquets!

Kids Just Want to Have Fun (All Day, 9am – 4pm)
This camp is for all those kids who love the snack bar, playing arcade games and winning cheap plastic prizes and for the parents that don’t really want to take them there. Bring some pocket money, get on the bus and have some FUN! We will travel to places like Chuck E. Cheese’s, Adventure Landing, Monkey Joe’s, the movie theater, bowling and Emerald Point or King’s Dominion. Be warned! There will be sugary snacks and cheap plastic chotchkies!

Outdoor Adventures with Greg Dahlin (2-Week Camp) (All day, 9am – 4pm)(June 19-23 & 26-30)
Come along on a dynamic experience that will inspire and challenge the adventurer in you. Greg is an experienced outdoorsman, naturalist, and a trained wilderness first-responder with a passion for connecting young people to the wonders of the natural world. During this 2-week program, participants will engage in backcountry and primitive skill work and will plan a 3 or 4 day wilderness adventure to apply and extend their learning in our own North Carolina mountains. The length and details of the trek will be determined by the goals, experience levels, and abilities of the group. Teambuilding and outdoor leadership work, as well as vital skill work and planning, take place during both weeks. Students will have an opportunity to learn about essential backpacking gear and equipment, Leave No Trace ethics, shelter, fire building, backcountry cooking, wilderness first aid, hiking and orienteering, natural history and mountain ecology, and they will experience first-hand the natural wonders of our home state. All interested participants must therefore attend both weeks before heading out on our mountain adventure. This program is open to students ages 10 and up. Space is limited, so please sign up early.
Greg Dahlin ($700) (2-week camp)(June 19-23 & 26-30)

Video Game Development (All day, 9am – 4pm)(ages 8 and up)
Create a video game from scratch using Unity and C# and at the end of the camp, you will have a complete, fully functional game that you can play and share with friends. You will also be able to access the online version of the course after camp, including video tutorials, interactive quizzes, and new challenges. ​You will learn important concepts in programming, including “if then” and conditional statements, logical operators, variables, methods, parameters, object types, and loops.

Tickle the Ivories Piano Camp! (9am – 1pm)
Are you interested in learning to play piano? Students will learn to play several famous folk songs. We will explore the basic elements of playing piano through learning proper hand and posture technique, playing rhythm games and reading music. This camp is designed for beginners with no experience needed.

This camp is packed with fun activities for students to explore their interest in the planets, space travel and exploration, and the physics behind getting us there. We will discovery what it takes to live and work in space, investigate Newton’s Laws of Motion, and experiment with International Space Station science projects!

Scrapbooking (All day, 9am – 4pm)
Here is a chance to get all of your pictures together and put them in your own scrapbook. We will be creating a book of memories to last a lifetime. Bring in your pictures of past vacations, family holidays, even the family pet, and we can create a place to keep them in a personalized book. We will be taking a field trip to a local store one day to get inspiration, ideas and materials if needed. You are welcome to bring a camera and we’ll make new memories of our week together.

Week 5: July 17-21

Summer Chorus (9am – 1pm)(Open to LE/UE)
Students will join together to create wonderful music with our voices! We will sing a variety of music from different genres and cultures. Students will also have the opportunity to add percussion instruments to the Choral experience.

Volleyball camp (9am – 1pm)(Rising 3rd graders and up)
This camp is designed to build upon the fundamentals of volleyball. Campers will spend time practicing skills such as passing, setting and for those who are more experienced, serving and hitting. We will have group games and team play.

This camp is designed for Children’s House students moving up to Lower Elementary. Children will be exposed to a classroom and how it runs. They will have a week to learn the rules, explore the works, have fun learning about community building and become comfortable with their surroundings. The first day of actual school will be a breeze!

Students will be able to make their own “all occasion card” collection that will be used all year round. A variety of techniques and materials will be used as well as learning how to use the Cricut machine, giving your cards a professional look.

Learn foundational mobile app development skills as you design and program your own mobile game. You will complete a mobile game from start to finish, including choosing characters, level design, and programming the app’s functionality! You learn the same App Design concepts the pros use, including “if then” statements, variables, debugging and troubleshooting to make your own mobile app! You will be able to download and play your finished app on your Android or iOS device! You’ll also be able to access the online version of the course after camp, including video tutorials, interactive quizzes, and new challenges so you can keep using your new skills!​

Ultimate Football Experience (9am – 1pm)
The Ultimate Football Experience will be an all-encompassing interactive camp where participants will take part in football-related experiences in order to promote the game of football by featuring educational and recreational activities in a safe and fun environment. This experience will be enriched with going-out experiences, fantasy-related online games, and the chance to watch an NFL training camp. Friday will be an ALL DAY going-out experience.

Middle School Survival Camp (All Day, 9am – 4pm) (Rising Seventh Graders and NEW students)
This summer camp offers a taste of what our Middle School program is all about. If your child is a little anxious about moving up and out to the “other” campus, this camp will ease the transition and help him/her feel comfortable and right-at-home in their new learning environment! We will have a week-long middle school simulation experience. Your child will learn valuable study skills such as how to use a planner effectively, helpful homework tips, and note-taking techniques. Mini lessons will be taught in all of the middle school subject areas: English, Humanities, Spanish, Math and Science. We will delve into the mysterious world of advisors, and intersessions and occupations..oh my! Afternoons will be filled with art, music, drama, and cooking opportunities.
