The Silkworm Project

When Upper Elementary II began their ancient civilization study of Asia, there were a lot of possibilities for research. The wonderful thing about Montessori is that you are encouraged to explore wherever your inspiration takes you. When students learned about the silk trade routes in Asia, the idea to know more about how silk was made led to silkworms. The students asked, “May we raise silkworms to make our own silk?” The teachers agreed and UE II has become the number one silk producing classroom on the MSR campus.
