Associate Director for Annual Giving

The Associate Director for Annual Giving reports to the Director of Development (DOD) and is responsible for all annual fundraising programs for The Montessori School of Raleigh. The individual in this position thinks critically, strategically, and creatively about the development and growth of the overall program and supports the Development Staff’s efforts to meet overall engagement, stewardship, and financial goals. The Director supports the school, its values, and its leadership.

The Associate Director for Annual Giving meets regularly with the Development Team and serves on the Communication and Marketing Committee, the Board of Trustee’s Development Committee, and Board Committees assigned by Head of School, and other internal committees as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In partnership with the DOD, contributes to the design and implementation of strategic initiatives for the Development effort.
Plans and executes the Annual Fund and annual giving programs.
Coordinates with DOD in soliciting leadership-level annual giving donors and in guiding the solicitation efforts of Head of School (HOS) and Trustees.
Personally solicits donors for annual gifts, coordinates with the DOD in soliciting leadership-level annual gifts, and partners with DOD in guiding the solicitation efforts of Head of School (HOS) and Trustees.
Coordinates all volunteer efforts related to the Annual Fund, including recruitment, briefing, and training.
Oversees the advancement of all leadership giving programs related to annual giving (e.g. Parent Giving Circles, Alumnae Giving Circles, etc.).
Oversees the Alumnae and Parent Phonathon programs.
Assists in identifying, researching, and cultivating new major and planned giving prospects.
Plans and implements Alumnae Council meetings.
Assists in the planning and execution of donor-cultivation events and other events managed by the Development Team, including the annual Leadership Dinner.
Ensures the effective management of the annual gala/auction, working with auction volunteers and staff to plan and execute the event.
Coordinates individual and corporate solicitations for annual gala/auction.
Manages all written solicitation material for Annual Fund, including constituency-specific letters and appeals, prospect cards, and web material.
Oversees the timeliness and accuracy of gift accounting, acknowledgements, and reminders.
Ensures the accuracy of the list of Annual Fund and auction donors for the Annual Report.
Contributes to the preparation and distribution of accurate Development reports for DOD, HOS, Board of Trustees, and school-related agencies, e.g., NAIS, CASE, etc.
Contributes to developing content and message focus for communiques to all donor constituents.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the annual campaign and plans the following year accordingly.
Partners with the DOD to set Annual Fund goals.
Attends out-of-town and evening Development Office events as needed.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years fundraising experience, preferably in the area of annual giving

Demonstrated success in leading a fundraising program

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to interact positively with a wide range of individuals

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work in standard office conditions and climate
May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
Work in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a diverse array of contacts
May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and fundraising events
Able to stand for periods of time
Able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
Able to turn, bend and reach
