These camps are for Children’s House 5 & 6 year olds that are Rising Extended Day (Kindergarten) or current Extended Day students or any non-MSR students ages 5 – 6 years.

Week 1: June 11-15

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs (9am – 1pm)
If critters with six legs seem interesting to you, then come along and explore the fascinating world of the greatest population on the planet… BUGS. Come dressed to explore. Learn about bugs through crafts, books, and exploration.

Eric Carle Camp (9am – 1pm)
Celebrate Eric Carle, one of the greatest children’s authors of our time! Take a literary journey through Eric Carle’s famous tales where the stories will provide opportunities for each child to express themselves through hands-on arts and crafts activities.

Butterflies and Birds (1pm – 4pm)
If they are cute and sweet and pretty and fly, then you will learn about them in this camp. Ms. Beth will explore the world of butterflies and birds through stories, crafts and outdoor excursions.

Week 2: June 18-22

MSR Space Camp (9am – 1pm)
Train to become an astronaut. Build a rocket ship. Make a planet mobile. Construct a constellation diorama.

Growing Up (9am – 1pm)
Children will have the opportunity to learn about and explore different careers. Much of this camp will be guided by interests of children enrolled.

Board Games (1pm – 4pm)
HIGH HO CHERRY-O! Enjoy a blast from the past as we unplug the iPads and dust off all the favorite family board games. You’ll be SORRY if you miss this adventure through CANDY LAND as we traverse SHOOTS AND LADDERS and stir up TROUBLE in a good way! You will play all sorts of games and perhaps even make your own game too! So get a CLUE and sign up today!

Out of the Box (1pm – 4pm)
This camp offers unlimited creativity for your children. Each day campers will pull materials out of the box and use their imaginations to make a fun craft out of cardboard boxes, scraps of material, recycled items and found objects.

Week 3: June 25-29

Children Around the World (9am – 1pm)
Learn about children from around the world through crafts, music, dance and art. This will be a fun and interactive adventure around our wonderful world.

SuperHero Training camp (9am – 1pm)
Discover your super powers, choose a SuperHero name, design a SuperHero costume and logo. Campers will choose which super powers their character possesses. They will learn about valuable character traits like trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Each camper will receive a customized SuperHero Training Manual for future reference.

Where the Wild Things Are (9am – 1pm)
Based on the book by Maurice Sendak, this camp will have activities and crafts that are especially wild and adventurous! We will read the book and explore our own imaginations.

Week 4: July 9-13

3D Art-O-Rama (9am – 1pm)
Enter the third dimension of the Art world with this exploration into 3D art. Campers will learn how to make their art jump off the page and into the third dimension. Learn different mediums and create your own projects.

Wind chimes and Whirligigs (9am – 1pm)
Take home several examples of this fun, hanging and moving art form. Campers will use wire, sticks, beads, bells and even kitchen utensils to create fun-floating sculptures!

Kids will learn water safety, basic strokes and water games. Stay cool in the pool!

Week 5: July 16-20

Intro to STEM with LEGO® Materials (9am – 1pm)
Give your imagination a boost with tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as cities, garbage trucks, catamarans, and dinosaurs. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. There are no prerequisites for this course.

Island Getaway (9am – 1pm)
Aloha and welcome to MSR’s own tropical paradise. This week, we will try to bring the best of the beach to you. Learn about amazing beaches from around the world, enjoy a luau, and make a big splash.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (1pm – 4pm)
Crafts, baking and activities just for girls! If it involves glitter or cake, we’ll be doing it. Learn how to make friendship bracelets, tie-dye shirts, cake pops, headbands and slime!

Amazing Athletes (1pm – 4pm)
Amazing Athletes uses sports to benefit children physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. Our program introduces the fundamentals of 9 different sports (soccer, hockey, volleyball, basketball, tennis, lacrosse, football, baseball, and golf), 16 different fruits and vegetables, and 10 different muscles in the body that we use during our sports. Children in Amazing Athletes routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun, and further develop 7 key motor skills: Balancing, Running, Jumping, Throwing, Catching, Kicking, Bowling.

I Wanna Be a Star! Drama camp (9am – 1pm)
During the week, the kids will make sets, props and costumes for a play to be performed at the end of the week for parents!

Kids will practice drawing, painting, mosaic and collage just to name a few!

Moving On Up! (All Day, 9am – 4pm) (Rising 1st graders)
This camp is designed for Children’s House students moving up to Lower Elementary. Children will be exposed to an Elementary classroom and how it runs. They will have a week to learn the rules, explore the materials, have fun learning about community building and become comfortable with their surroundings. The first day of actual school will be a breeze!

Jam Between the Pages (9am – 1pm)
This camp combines the wonderful world of literature with the art of cooking. Kids will explore some incredible books followed by a hands-on cooking lesson while getting a little lesson in grace and courtesy. Aprons and recipes provided.

Art Attack camp is designed for kids that love to create little masterpieces of art and get a little bit messy. We will explore different mediums and express our creativity through a variety of fun art projects.
